Joy Truluck grew up in Asheville, NC, John’s Island, SC, and on the central coast of California. She has called Winston-Salem home for the past 20 years. Since graduating college, Joy has worked for nonprofits, with detours to the travel industry and a few years to focus on caregiving. Her experience in nonprofits spans the academic, media, legal, health and human service sectors. Aside from inspired work, Joy keeps busy as an outdoor enthusiast and avid traveler, taking pictures from the road, plane, trail, by the shore, on a bike, kayak or underwater. She likes to research and write essays, stories and songs. Joy has a domestic partner, two children, and some pets, who make life loving, comical and fly by. Joy is humbled to help the Wells Center for Recovery on the mission to support justice-involved women bridge the gap to positive outcomes.
