"For Women In Transition"
Ms. Wells is the CEO/Founder of THE WELLS CENTER, INC., “For Women-In-Transition” a 501©3 nonprofit organization. While laboring behind the walls of jails and prisons in North & South Carolina, and hearing the voices of women crying from the wilderness for direction & restoration, The WELLS CENTER, INC., “For Women-In-Transition was conceived.
Ms. Wells is an Ordained Minister, Social Worker, and a Chaplain at Forsyth Detention Center. Ms. Wells holds a BA Degree in Sociology; MSW Degree in Social Work; and Master of Divinity Degree in Pastoral Counseling at Hood Seminary, Salisbury, North Carolina.
Ms. Wells started her journey ministering to men and women in jails and prisons in 2000. She volunteered her time with a jail/prison ministry traveling team, Charlotte, NC under the leadership of Minister Jere Chidester. Ms. Wells traveled to jails and prisons throughout North and South Carolina.
After 4-years of traveling from jails/prisons, her passion to serve women offenders, in a greater capacity, grew beyond measure. For the cause of passion, she went for broke, resigned from a 10-year position as an administrative assistant, and relinquished all of her possessions and transition from Charlotte, NC to Winston-Salem, NC to pursue higher learning so she could become better equipped to make a difference in the lives of incarcerated women transitioning from jail/prison back into society.
Ms. Wells obtained a BA Degree from Winston-Salem State University, Winston-Salem, NC in 2007, age 42, and Master of Social Work Degree in Social Work from NC A&T State University/UNC Greensboro, Greensboro, NC in 2013, age 48.
Today, Ms. Wells is the Founder and Executive Director of THE WELLS CENTER, INC., “For Women-In-Transition” in Forsyth County, NC, serving women offenders.
